You can watch the first show at Hulu
It was edited like BattleStar Galactica. That is a bad thing.
The characters are not yet molded. There are too many of them, but I think they will be dying off in the first season.

I suppose I should try watching it for lack of anything better to watch. Stargate has never really appealed to me as much as shows like Firefly and Space: Above And Beyond.
I do not really like the sound of the show having a huge cast of characters though. Too many of them in a TV series or movie means less development for each individual one. The new Battlestar Galactica is a fine example of this by ending with so many loose ends untied and so many questions unanswered.

The main characters seem, so far, to be a nerd, a mad scientist, a trigger finger border-line insane soldier (SG-1 used to treat our soldiers respectfully), a hard-nosed colonel who was injured for most of the 2-parter, a male and female soldier who are first shown , um, humpin', in a supply closet, a couple of other females including a Senators daughter and one might be a lesbian (is there a law about including a gay character in all new shows?)

Sounds like the Stargate franchise has kowtowed to the military-hating, PC loving, everything-is-a-shade-of-grey crowd.

Yep. I will watch for at least a few weeks. That crazy soldier was in detention but was evacuated because of the attack. I wonder how long it will be before they take his gun away? or something.

2 more characters died this episode. I guess they are going to be killed off all season. Eventually I guess they'll be down to 4 main characters and a few secondary characters.

Two people disobeyed orders and dialed a StarGate to an unknown world that the ships computer had apparently deemed unsafe. There was 3 they shot one before he went through to keep him out. The other 2 were not heard from again as far as I know. I did watch, but could have missed something. They found a way to repair the life support system on the alien vessel.
Apparently the power system will fail next week.

I just watched the latest SGU episode. I don't think anyone was killed off this week. The main scientist character had a nervous breakdown, the power went out and they used a gas giant to brake the ships speed.
But then they had a new problem. Their mostly unpowered ship was heading straight toward a star.
I am surprised they can't use the stones to bring Col. Carter aboard to see if she can't fix their power systems.
