I will pass on it. The story looks like a cross between The Last Samurai and Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest (environazi propaganda cartoon) recycled in space.
And I guess humans fighting against hostile aliens is too politically incorrect for hollyweird.

Yup. I imagine this movie is supposed to be some anti-WOT statement. Instead of oil, its some kind of valuable mineral.

I will say once again the best sci-fi is what you find in books. Genuinely good sci-fi movies are rare these days.
I will certainly see The Fourth Kind though. Milla Jovovich alone will be worth it.

That's a negative on Avatar. Cameron hasn't made a decent flick since Terminator. I haven't heard about The Fourth Kind but I do loves me some Mila.
Speaking of which, she's absolutely hilarious in Dummy. I think its an Adrian Brody flick about a ventriloquist and his punk rock friend, Mila. And it may or may not have a ventriloquists dummy in it.
But shes hot and sings a punk/klezmer version of some Jewish wedding tune.
4 stars, Uncle Aaron says check it out.
But yeah, Avatar is gay.

The 'meet the natives and fight for them' is a stock plot line as old as dirt and seen in a lot of movies. Fern Gully, The Last Samurai (though that one is devoid of the romance usually seen in this plotline) just to name a few.

Hate to say it... but I'm starting to like the Avatar/FernGully idea of making paradises out of rain forests. A hundred years ago of course it wouldn't have been possible but today it should be. You'd have to use enough DDT to kill all the mosquitoes, leeches, ants and what not and figure ways to kill everything poisonous in the place along with any other dangerous reptiles, but you could do it, and then make the place into some sort of a resort. In real life of course, the best depiction of life in a rain forest is probably one of the old Victory at Sea scenes from Guadalcanal e.g. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWUOAELKTOs&feature=relatedI mean, it's highly unlikely either the Americans or Japanese managed to kill more of the other side than the rain forest did...

Kill all the bugs and stuff is kind of off-course for a "Utopia"

Kill all the bugs and stuff is kind of off-course for a "Utopia" I mean, in FernGully and Avatar, God or the tree of souls or some such does all that; you didn't notice anybody dying from malaria in Avatar, did you??

lol. You need to find a Tree of Souls first I guess. By the way the guy who did Signs, Shaymalan or whatever wants to make that cartoon into a live action it was called Avatar: The Last Air Bender... nothing to do with the movie AVATAR of course. So now its just going to be The Last Air Bender. If it gets made.
