As I have noted, you either have telepathic communication or you don't; the thing Cameron tries to do with the hair hookup in Avatar is ludicrous. The single most interesting thing on that bearfabrique web site is this: www.bearfabrique.org/Catastrophism/babel.htmlThe executive summary is this: The tale of the tower of Babel is not a story about going from one language such as we use now to many such; it is a story about a total change in the way humans communicate. Julien Jaynes' thesis and the researches of Al de Grazia and Hugh Crossthwaite combine to tell a story which is larger than either of the two findings alone. The human mind and brain were originally hard-wired for a form of communication as far beyond what we do now as our best comms technology is above smoke signals. All of that stopped working when the planet's electrostatic fields broke down.

I know, that one's a bit much to swallow in one gulp if you'd never heard it before... Try reading the whole thing and let me know what you think. The beginning of the thing of course would be a copy of Jaynes "Origin of Consciousness, which everybody should have. www.julianjaynes.org/bicameralmind.php
