Check out this website: www.usaemergencysupply.com/food_storage/year_supply_of_food_deluxe.htmSo, this means you have enough food to last you a year and you have 5 acres, okay lets say 11 acres, of land in which to cultivate for your survival. We will assume there are no close-by lakes or rivers. What will grow in your area? What kind of fruit trees, vegetables, grains, food animals etc?

The only food plants that I know can grow in my area are blue barries, tomatoes, carrots, apples and potatoes.
Food animals. I do not know aside from maybe cattle.

Cattle takes land, maybe you can have a few on some acres not being used for other things, I think chickens are better spacewise. But 11 acres you can do both I guess. CC thread on very similar topic I started: www.conservativecave.com/index.php/topic,38753.0/topicseen.html
