One of the free ebooks (out of print books) from Baen Books is called "On Basilisk Station" by David Weber. Its a very interesting universe he sets up, sort of like an Old English government/society. As far as I can tell the writer is a conservative, at least he seems to be so far. The Parliamentary faction that seems to be doing favors for the enemy are the Liberals. I want to see where this goes. www.baen.com/library/

Yes he is conservative. A lot of Baen's authors are. So was Jim Baen himself, the founder of the company. See the DUmmies get their panties in a wad over it for laughs. www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x2535409My favorite Baen author is Tom Kratman for not only telling a good story, but for saying things that most other people are afraid to say. Unfortunately none of his books are in the free library. I highly recommend Caliphate though.

Weber's "Harrington" series (Basilisk is merely the first of a bunch, 12 I think) is some of the best thought out, most visual sci-fi writing it has ever been my pleasure to read. I highly recommend the whole series.
I just finished the first book of David Drake's "Lt. Leary" series. Not bad, either.

Thank you. I didn't know there were so many of them.

Thank you. I didn't know there were so many of them. It took me years, but I collected the whole series in paperback. Originally got them for my wife; she likes 'em at least as much as I do.
